The immunisation coordinator provides immunisation information to the Public, Health Professionals and Health Promoters, monitoring immunisation rates of the Tairāwhiti region,
The service also manages the authorised non-medical vaccinator programme, cold chain management; Hepatitis B programme for babies born to Hepatitis B mothers and a resource for updated immunisation information.

Authorised Vaccinators
Authorised vaccinators are able to administer vaccines without a prescription or standing order from a medical professional.
Only vaccines that are part of an approved immunisation programme can be given (e.g. The Ministry of Health national immunisation schedule or a local immunisation programme) (Immunisation Handbook 2014)
Only Registered Nurse or Midwives are eligible to apply.
Medical Officers of Health of the Tairāwhiti region are responsible for approving authorised vaccinator applications for this area covered by the 1984 clause 44A (2) Medicines Regulations Act. The period of authorisation is for two years, then you are required to reapply for authorisation renewal to continue to vaccinate.
