Tapu whilst Hapu poster competition

Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) is a brain-based disability that is the result of alcohol consumption during pregnancy. There is clear evidence alcohol is the most damaging of all recreational substances for a foetus. Tairawhiti health and education professionals have come together to raise awareness of FASD and develop a community action plan for whanau. Drinking alcohol while hapu, and the effects it can have, is something no one wants to talk about.  To encourage more discussion a poster competition is being held.

Experts say there is no safe level of alcohol consumption during pregnancy so the focus of the competition is “Tapu whilst Hapu”.
