We did it Tairāwhiti! Today is a day for the whole community to celebrate. We have reached 90% double vaccination for the whole community and 90% first dose for Māori.
Our people have stood up and made the right decision to be vaccinated. Our fight against Omicron is far from over, but we are now better prepared for what lies ahead.
Thank you to everyone who has been vaccinated and to everyone who has played a part in vaccinating our people. We cannot underestimate the amount of work our people have invested in this.
There are no new cases of COVID-19 to report today. Many of the Ilminister Intermediate students have already received negative tests, which is excellent news. Students are being asked to remain at home in isolation until tomorrow when all test results are processed and we have confirmation there hasn’t been any transmission at the school. It is expected that all students can return to school on Monday. Of course everyone should continue to look out for symptoms, and get tested as soon as possible if these appear.
There are no new locations of interest to report today. For a list of all locations of interest, including yesterday’s location of interest at Lone Star Restaurant Gisborne, see https://bit.ly/2M1fgib.
Clinics are open this weekend for vaccines and boosters. For locations, see https://bit.ly/3o38iZP
Testing is available tomorrow as follows
Watson Park Drive Through – 9am to 12 mid-day
Te Tini o Porou Drive Through – 10am-12pm
Your GP – phone first for an appointment

This weekend, please continue to check symptoms of your whānau, washing hands, keeping your distance from others outside your home bubble. Together, we’re prepared to face Omicron head on!
