The Minister of Health has appointed Josh Wharehinga Deputy Chair of the Hauora Tairāwhiti board.
His appointment comes after Gavin Murphy stepped back from the deputy position last year due to work commitments. Gavin who has been a Ministerial Board Member since 2017, and Deputy Chair since 2019 will continue to sit on the health board.
Board Chair Kim Ngarimu thanks Gavin for his support. “I have appreciated Gavin’s guidance and experience in my first term as Board Chair. I welcome Josh to the position and look forward to working closely with him.”
The Minister of Health appoints each District Health Board’s chair and deputy chair. Elected or appointed board members can fill these positions.
Josh is also the Chair of Hiwa i te Rangi (an amalgamation of the roles of the board’s three advisory committees) and a member of Te Waiora o Nukutaimemeha the Māori Relationship Board.
