Improving clinical access to patient information

Good clinical decisions need accurate, available and accessible patient information. Hauora Tairāwhiti is committed to improving clinical access to patient information.

Clinicians at Hauora Tairāwhiti can now link into patient information held by Waikato District Health Board. Waikato Hospital is where the majority of Tairāwhiti people go who need tertiary-level (specialist) care that Hauora Tairāwhiti doesn’t provide. Easy access to this information is making a significant difference for clinical staff.

The next step is the implementation of a clinical results repository at Hauora Tairāwhiti by July 2017 and shared throughout Midland region DHBs. This project is part of the eSPACE programme which will offer a new clinical portal that better enables safer diagnosis and treatment for our patients.

Hauora Tairāwhiti is also working with Midlands Health Network (MHN) to consider integrating Hauora Tairāwhiti patient information with Indici. Indici is a patient information platform used by MHN General Practices. Hauora Tairāwhiti would be piggy-backing on the successful project in Taranaki DHB. Ngāti Porou Hauora has moved on to the MHN operating platform and they are signalling their intention to use Indici in the future.
