Today we celebrate our nurses who work in a diverse range of nursing roles across the motu.
We wanted to find out what motivates some nurses to do their job and what they are passionate about in their mahi. We caught up with the nursing team from Kowhai House, our local immunisation hub, and here’s what they had to say.
Arihia is a registered nurse with over 18 years of nursing experience. Arihia says, “I enjoy providing quality care to meet all of my patient's needs”.
When asked why she became a nurse vaccinator, Jackie said, “In my youth, I had a negative experience with a vaccinator which led me to a career in nursing. I wanted to show that getting a vaccination can be a positive experience.”
Katy enjoys working with the team Kowhai House and every day looks forward to coming to work with mana wāhine who are passionate about health and the health of our community.
Parehuia has been part of the dynamic nursing team at Kowhai House since November 2021. Her role is the site co-ordinator and Parehuia says, “I love nursing and really enjoy my job. It’s such a privilege to work with such a dynamic and fun team”.
Caroline is a firm believer that vaccines save lives and feels privileged to be part of a nursing team that makes a positive impact on our community.
Happy International Nurses Day to all of the nurses in Aotearoa.
