COVID-19 Update

There were no new cases of COVID-19 detected in Tairāwhiti yesterday.
Further follow up work has been done for the close contacts of the case announced yesterday.
Further close contacts have been identified but no places of interest are advised at this stage.
Genotyping has not been received i.e. we still do not know the variant. We expect this later today.
By the end of the day there have been 287 people tested for COVID-19. A third of those tests were taken on the Coast.
There was an increased number across our district and we thank all those people for coming forward to be tested.
The results of these tests should be known by the end of the day today.
Vaccinations totaled over 600 by 5:30pm yesterday, continuing the strong trend this week of higher numbers of people ensuring they are protected ahead of the inevitable spread of the Omicron variant in Tairāwhiti.
Waste water testing results confirmed COVID-19 present on Monday, in accordance with the known case.
