Sarwan Kumar has lived and worked in Tairawhiti for over 35 years, and has built up a lot of connections and relationships within all sectors of our community. He has worked in the Public Health field for his entire career. Sarwan started as a health inspector with Ministry of Health in Fiji before moving to Gisborne. In 1985 he began his work with Gisborne District Council as an environmental health officer. He has held numerous management positions including chief environmental health officer and regulatory services manager within the Gisborne District.
Sarwan is currently the Interim President of Tairawhiti Multicultural Council.
